Faster on your phone
In JobGuard you take a few photos and describe the job, and it suggests a price range for every line and lists what is easy to miss. The client signs on their phone.

What is on it
- Your business, VAT number and the client's details
- Quote number, date, valid until and start date
- Price lines with quantity and unit price, VAT and total
- Deposit, when payment is due and your rate for extra work
- What is not included
- The client's signature, accepting the quote
How to fill in a quote
Write the job and the address first, then break the price into labour and materials so the client can see where the money goes. A single lump sum invites haggling; a priced list does not.
Say what is not included, such as making good, skip hire or work outside the described scope. Add how long the quote is valid, because material prices move.
Common mistakes on a quote
Leaving out your rate for extra work, so every change becomes a new argument.
No start date or payment terms, which leaves the client guessing and you chasing.
No signature. A quote the client has not accepted in writing is only a price, not an agreement.
Questions
Can I use it for free?
Yes. Print it, fill it in and give it to your client - no sign-up needed.
Why put my rate for extra work on the quote?
When the client asks for something new, the price is already agreed in principle, so there is less to argue about.
Do I need to put VAT on it?
Only if you are VAT-registered. If you are not, leave the VAT line empty and do not add a VAT number.
What should a builder's quote include?
The job and address, a priced breakdown of labour and materials, what is not included, the start date, how long the quote is valid, payment terms and a signature.
